Doon University
The Doon University, located on the eastern parts of Dehradun city. Doon University campuse are in roughly 55 acres of land. Located 25 kms from the City Center, this campus will be developed to accommodate all academic programmes requiring significant laboratory and field facilities. A Science Park will be established with public-private partnership.
An additional 100 acres of land has been allotted to the University to establish its second campus at Sahaspur is currently under development. Set amidst beautiful environs, the river Rispana runs along the eastern and southern boundaries of the campus.
The Government of Uttarakhand approved the establishment of a University that would become a centre of higher learning in modern disciplines. The Doon University Bill, 2005 was passed by the Legislative Assembly and assented to by the Governor on April 23, 2005. The Act of 2005 enacted to establish Doon University was published in the Uttarakhand Gazette on April 26, 2005. The Headquarters of the University shall be located at Dehradun with the provision that it may establish additional campus(es) at such other place(s) as necessary.
