Indian Military Academy
The IMA was considered first,in 1922 that was established outside of Dehradun.this academy was firstly found in Sandhurst,England, by Prince of Walse.The Academy became active in late 1932.that time strength of cadets was only 40. The Academy functioned first in India in 1932 with the branch naming Indian Military
C. Rajagopalachari was the first Indian Governor-General, On 9 October
1948, the Academy received the first His Excellency. On the 9 December Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru
became the first Prime Minister and he viewed Passing Out Parade of the first University
Graduates Course.
In December 1954,The IMA got its original identity and existence,and every thing was started in well manner.In 1960, the Military College was renamed the Indian Military Academy.Brigadier Apji Randhir Singh ,elected as Commandant. On 10 December 1962, the second President of the Republic of India, Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, presented new colours to the Indian Military Academy.
Indian Miliraty Academy(IMA),dehradun, have passed 75 golden
years in India, and celebrating its own glory of past and present. Old is gold"
which suits perfectly to IMA. The instituion once started with 40 cadets,
now comprise of 1900 cadets and giving this many officers to the country every
year.
Indian Military Academy has awell equipped building with full facilities and
generator back-up. Computer and Internet connection for members are also
facilitated as well. We meet
every month on 2nd Thursday for clinical meetings, and conduct regular CMEs for
our members. Indian Military Academy is also conducting charitable
dispensary, pathology lab for the poor.
